Find a right-fit client that you can grow with. Podcasting can be a powerful tool to establish yourself as a thought leader, connect with a target audience, and ultimately grow a business. While some gurus might make it seem easy to launch a podcast and attract thousands of listeners overnight, that’s not always the case. Building a successful podcast takes time, dedication, and consistency.

Before diving in with a client, consider their goals. Is a podcast right for them? Podcasts are excellent for nurturing relationships and building trust with an audience, but they may not be the best lead generation tool. They also aren’t a great fit for every business, especially in the initial stages. 

If your client is a consultant like myself, a podcast can be a fantastic way to showcase their expertise and attract high-quality clients. But for a local plumber, for instance, consistent social media marketing and local SEO efforts might be a more effective strategy. 

Don’t align yourself with clients with unrealistic expectations and no business sense. That’s not how to become a podcast manager. Be honest and invest your time with a client that will be committed to podcasting for the long haul.

From creating a content calendar and guest scheduling to episode promotion and repurposing content across different platforms, there’s a lot to manage.
